Gish Jen recommends
Leaving (2024)
Roxana Robinson
"If to the combustible elements of passion, honor, love, and art, you add the complexities of modern parenting, you get the conflagration that is Leaving. Compelling, heart-stopping, and all too believable, this is a marvelous read."
The Leftover Woman (2023)
Jean Kwok
"What a page-turner! The Leftover Woman asks aching questions about family and love even as it hop-scotches across cultures and classes, bringing both tragedy and hope. A marvelous read."
What Strange Paradise (2021)
Omar El Akkad
"It is one thing to put a human face on a migrant crisis and another to do so in so compelling a way that a reader simply cannot put your book down. I read this in one sitting, my heart pounding the whole wayin a strange paradise, you might say. Marvelous."
